Opening the door to the astrological new year, Tale End presents an evening of tender noise, where dreams and dance floors meet.
Line Up:
GAZE
Consisting of Lauren Thomas (vocals), Regie Pienaar (guitar),
Desmond Kannemeyer (guitar), Dan Charles
(bass) and Bradley Croome (drums) - GAZE
is a Cape Town-based band that merges the angst and intensity of ’90s alt-rock with the lush soundscapes and nostalgia-soaked sensibilities of dream-pop and shoegaze. GAZE writes songs with the intention of conjuring a cinematic and cathartic experience for anyone that wishes to soothe and explore their existential dread with them while reflecting on lost love and sharing moments of bliss with the people that you care about.
BLUE VOW
Blue Vow is the experimental noise project of Cape Town-based visual artist and songwriter Chelsea Ann Peter, whose sound moves through slow-burning ambience, gritty guitars and droning synth explorations that culminate in angst-fuelled, existential alt-rock. Blue Vow’s latest album ‘Death of a Big Black Dog’ (2024), sinks fully into the dark and the light, finding its pulse on the edge where the two forces meet. Presently morphing into a full band comprising Joy Markus, Damon Miles, Cam Lofstrand, and Stephan Erasmus, Blue Vow is re-imagining itself, slowly shedding skins and transitioning into something new.
BLURRY LIPS
Over the last five years, Blurry Lips - brainchild of singer/songwriter/guitarist Brig Stanford - has evolved and reinvented to become a formidable line-up, boasting Marius Vercuiel, the band's ever-dependable and melodic sonic-glue, on bass, partnered by Hanno van Vuren's cosmos-channeling drum-work. Leading the melody is James Vincent, his guitar a shining beacon that both smoothly attacks and guides the band; all while Brig reckons with life, love, and identity in a crazy world. Entirely surrounded by music from a young age, Brig soon turned her hand and her heart to expression-through-songwriting, a craft she's never stopped honing. Quickly cornering a niche in the local scene, Brig & Marius are the brains behind Glastonfurry, an annual festival that sees some of Cape Town's finest musicians coming together to raise funds for the SPCA.
Brig offers Blurry Lips as a statement of self. Her lyrics are unflinching in their honesty, kaleidoscopic in their blend of emotions.
Giving said lyrics wings is a strain of rock 'n' roll that hurtles into the bones, and into the soul.
DELORIAN
Delorian learnt to DJ deep in the forest outside Berlin, from a psycho-analyst in training. She seamless blends a mix of 80’s bangers, post-punk, dark wave, synth wave & 90’s rave music.
We would like to make it clear that this is a safe space for all beings, so prejudices of any kind will not be tolerated.
